And another one bites the dust…

January 03, 2009 – La Mesa Mexican Bistro has closed.
The not-so-popular upscale mexican food restaurant is no more. To be more specific, this second incarnation of a mexican food venue has failed. Previously, the restaurant was Taco Milagro www.taco-milagro.com and failed to generate enough revenue to stay open, so why open again with a similar, if not the same type of food? It would appear that the restaurant closed on or about January 2nd, 2009, according to the reservations log on the hostess stand, they only had a handful of reservations for new years eve 2008 – 11 reservations, three of which that did not show up ( or so it would seem). The reservations book is missing the page which would show what, if any, activity was to be had on Janaury 1, and January 2, 2009.
I have eaten there only twice; actually once, the second time we went, there was some garbage in my drink glass – we informed the manager and immediately left. Upon are standing up to leave, he offered a free meal but, we refused ( the table wasn’t very clean, nor was the tableware ). I can say that I am glad I was not an employee of that establishment as it would appear that the closure was rather sudden. The bar area has been cleaned out but, the tables both inside and out remained as of January 4, 2009. The server workstations were still running, the entry way carpets remained, and the phones were lit. So who will fill the store now? I would like to see another Asian food restaurant in that location; mexican food just isn’t working and there are a plethora of Mexican food restaurants in the woodlands already; most being much more economical than la mesa. P.F. Changs next to the woodlands mall for example, does quite well and could stand a little competition.
